Description
This is the purest possible visualization of the verb ‘to sit’. A collection of rectangular slabs combine to make a Cubist seat that is an instant classic and an architects’ favourite. It has been the preferred furniture in many interiors from the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam to the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit, where Obama and other world leaders sat on it.
AVL Office Chair in setting
When designing the interior for the new Interpolis Headquarters, Joep van Lieshout couldn’t find any suitable chairs apart from the eternal Eames bucket seats. Too predictable, too expensive. After sketching what he wanted and showing it to his friend Hans Lensvelt, he was told it didn’t exist, but it could be made. Over the past 20 years, the AVL Office Chair has become an evergreen. It comes in different versions, for example with a high or low back.
